html - What's the state of the art for scientific graphics on websites? -

basically want build web interface server-side math engine. (like simplified version of qtoctave/gsl.) haven't seen many resources generate mathematical graphs on client side--bar plots, heat maps, etc. support in html5 seems lacking, this short discussion suggests. there web equivalent qwt, jcharts, etc.?
